Hi, folks! Phil here. You may remember me from such sites as ASMzine.com and, uh, ASMzine.net and, er, alteredstatesmag.com. Two of those domains don’t show my stuff any more. So what happened?
I got screwed over, that’s what. The company I registered my domains with suddenly stopped answering emails. The person in charge vanished, and I ended up losing a bunch of domains and could only recover one of them.
That was several years ago. Add to that the pandemic and life got complicated. So much so that it was hard to find time to write about anything.
But now, there’s stuff on the horizon I may want to talk about. Yet, the website is a mess. To get it into working condition would take a lot of effort, and quite honestly, it would be a herculean task.
And really, the concept of a “zine” is dead. The domain doesn’t really work for me. So maybe it’s time to think new. But I don’t know exactly what yet.
I do know I want things to work again, so think of ASM interim as my playground. I might try some new plugins and graphic stuff in this temporary home so I know what works for you and for me. But it’ll get me back to writing while I work on the behind-the-scenes aspect.
So, this is an experiment. It’s not a permanent home. I’m renting it to see how it feels while I build the new place.
